Highlights about the Temple
The Shree Kshetra Nellitheertha Somanatheshwara Guhalaya is one of the biggest
cave temples in Karnataka, which is 30 km. away from Mangalore city, and situated in
Neerude of Kompadavu village, Mangalore Tq.
Besides the temple, there exists a picturesque cave and within it a sacred pond called
‘Nellitheertha’ along with a Shivalinga called ‘Jabaleshwara’. People enters the cave
and proceed about 200 meters inside, to take the holy bath (ತೀರ್ಥ ಸಾಾನ).
Every year people are allowed to enter the cave & have the ‘theertha snana’ from
auspicious day of ‘Tula Sankramana’ to ‘Mesha Sankramana’ (usually between Oct
17th to April 14th) and this year, the ceremony starts from 17th Oct 2024.
